About Duanne Olivier
D Olivier or Duanne Olivier is 27 years old South Africa’s right-arm fast-medium bowler and right-handed batsman. He currently plays domestic cricket for Yorkshire in England and previously was part of the South Africa cricket team making his debut against Sri Lanka in a Test match in January 2017.
D Olivier was born on 9th May 1992 in Groblersdal, Transvaal Province, South Africa as Duanne Olivier. After completing his school he moved on with his cricket career playing the domestic games with Free State in 2011 at the age of 19.
He started his career in cricket by making his first-class debut in 2011 playing for Free-State followed by his game in South Africa’s under-19 side in an ODI series against England. He went for giving consistent performances in the domestic circuit for around six years to be considered for national selection. He was then picked up by Knights in 2014 turning out to be their leading wicket-taker in the 2015-16 season as having the ability to generate movement in the air with accuracy and
strength that hits the deck hard. This was also the time when he made a tour to Zimbabwe and Australia with South Africa A team. He made it to South African Invitation XI to play against Sri Lanka and taking 4 for 54 in the drawn match. In the 2016-17 season, he was among the leading wicket-taker with 52 dismissals in Sunfoil Series and next participated in Mzansi Super League T20 tournament for Jozi Stars squad in October 2018.
On the international side, he got his Test debut against Sri Lanka replacing Kyle Abbott who went for the Kolpak deal and then made his entry in South Africa’s Boxing Day Test in December 2018 where he went for taking 24 wickets across the three Tests of the tour. He also got ODI debut against Pakistan in January 2019 and played for Yorkshire after signing the Kolpak deal in February 2019 in the 2019 Marylebone Cricket Club University Matches against Leeds where he made a history taking 400th first-class wicket.
