DJ Willey or David Jonathan Willey is 29 years old English left-handed batsman and left-arm medium-fast bowler. He currently plays for the Yorkshire County Cricket Club who made his international debut for England in ODI match against Ireland in May 2015.
Early Life
DJ Willey was born on 28th February 1990 in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England as David Jonathan Willey to Peter Willey. His father is a former English cricketer and Test umpire. Having a cricket background in the family he found his interest too in the game by joining Northamptonshire club and starting as a lower-order batsman who has the talent to swing the new ball.
Career
Willey started his cricket career with Nottinghamshire by making his debut in County Championship division two and going for a half-century. He played his first game against Leicestershire and made a good game in partnership with Andrew Hall scoring 60. He went for regular matches playing consistent with both bat and ball but the real success came in 2012 when he claimed 43 wickets for Northamptonshire
followed by victory in the Friends Life T20 competition. The success brought him a chance in England Lions team but the injury made him take a step back from the 2015 World Cup in Australia-New Zealand. He further planned to work on his domestic career achieving full form in gaming with an international call-in ODI debut against Ireland in May 2015. He next played well-scoring a hundred against Sussex in Natwest T20 Blast which showed his potential in scoring 34 from a Michael Yardy over and taking his team to finals where they lost the title to Lancashire. At the end of the season, he held hands of Yorkshire County Cricket Club working on his long-form game. In 2016, he became the part of T20 WC squad that got held in India. Here he went for superb performance in bowling thus helping England to reach in finals of the title. Talking about his international career his injuries have hampered him in all form either it may be domestic or national yet he has been in ODI squad but not on a regular basis since 2018. He also played in various world league matches including IPL as he got selected by Chennai Super Kings in 2018 after Mitchell Santer and Kedar Jadhav suffered from an injury. He is still retained on the position by
the team for the 2019 IPL. Recently, he also made it to the squad of England’s 2019 Cricket World Cup.

He is in a marital relationship with Carolynne Poole since 2016. Carolynne is an English singer and songwriter.
