Canelo Alvarez was born as Santos Saul Alvarez Barragan on July 18, 1990 in Guadalajara, Mexico to his father Santos Alvarez and mother Ana Maria Barragan. His father was a farmer and mother was a housewife. His parents separated when he was young. He has seven siblings, all brought up in Juanacatlan, Jalisco. Canelo Alvarez is a high school drop-out; he left school to focus on boxing. He started his boxing training at the age of 13. His first trainers are Father and son Chepo Reynoso and Eddy.
Career
Canelo Alvarez major inspiration for boxing is his two boxing brothers Ramon and Ricardo. He made his professional debut in year 2005. In his first 19 months he has recorded 11 wins out of 13 fights against opponents who were older and much experienced from him. In his career, he has fought many big fights and many big championships against greatest boxers of all time, like Floyd Mayweather Jr., Austin Trout, Shane Mosley, Gennady Golovkin, Amir Khan etc. Although he rose to prominence was his win against Magic Hatton in WBC Super Welterweight World titled in March 2011.
