Blake Austin Griffin is an American professional Basketball player; he plays for Detroit Pistons of National Basketball association (NBA). Although Blake Griffin started his career with Los Angeles Clippers, he was selected as 1st overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. Early life
Blake Austin Griffin was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 16, 1989 to his father Tommy Griffin and mother Gail Griffin. Blake also has an older brother named Taylor. Blake Griffin was initially has interests in baseball and football, but he took basketball as his professional game, because he is inspired by his father, who was also a basketball Center and played for Northern Oklahoma State University. Blake Griffin and his brother Taylor Griffin were home schooled by his mother and later attended ‘Oklahoma Christian School’.
Career
Blake Griffin started his professional career in basketball, when he was selected as first overall pick in NBA 2009 draft by Los Angeles Clippers. He made his debut as rookie in 2010-11 seasons. His debut match was against Portland Trail Blazers, where he made 20 points and 14 rebounds. His game was fabulous whole season, he was also voted as 2011 NBA All-star game by coaches as a reserve. During 2011, he won Sprite Slam Dunk contest during the All-star-break. He was also named as one of the NBA’s Greatest Rookies of all time by the Sports Illustrated Magazine. In 2012, he performed well throughout the season with an average of 18.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. He was also selected to perform at 2012 Olympics, but unfortunately he didn’t got chance to perform, and stepped out because of his knee injury during a practice session. In 2013-14 seasons, he registered a career high performance of 24.1 points per game, during this season he made his fourth All-star appearance. From year 2015, luck didn’t play his side; he remained injured for a long time and missed more than 40 games. In July 2017, he renewed his contract with Clippers worth $173 million, but later in January 2018, he was traded to Detroit Pistons. With Detroit Pistons, Blake played his first match against Memphis Grizzles and managed to perform well.
