About Bill O’ Reilly
Bill O’Reilly is 69 years old American journalist, former television host, and an author.
He is well known for hosting, The O’Reilly Factor, as a popular cable news program on Fox News in 2001 and also for writing a series of best-selling books, including Killing Lincoln (2011) and Killing Jesus (2013).
Recently, he got fired by the channel after being found guilty in various settlements for sexual harassment allegations in 2017.
Early Life
Bill was born on 10th September 1949 in New York City, the United States as William James O’Reilly Jr. to Winifred Angela O’Reilly and William James Sr.
He was raised in a family with his sister, Janet and used to live in a small apartment in Fort Lee before moving to Levittown, on Long Island. For early education, he went to St. Brigid parochial school and Chaminade High School.
Afterward, he attended Marist College and Queen Mary College at the University of London majoring in history in 1971.
He was involved in baseball gaming while being in his high school and participated in Little League, further in college he was introduced as a punter in the National Club Football Association.
He also has his master's degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University and masters in public administration from Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1996.
Career
Bill started his early career as a teacher in 1971 when he moved to Miami where he taught in high school for two years whereas his television news career began in Scranton, Pennsylvania with short stints at local news stations in Dallas, Denver, Portland, and Boston.
He moved to New York in 1980 and started his own program joining CBS as a news correspondent.
He soon received limelight with two Emmy Awards and two National Headliner Awards for his three-year tenure with ABC News in 1986.
Another success came with a nationally syndicated show, Inside Edition that started up in 1989. In 2001, he came up with a start-up on Fox News channel named The O’Reilly Factor where he uses to put on board the hottest issues in an atmosphere with blunt commentary and hard-driving interviews.
He came up as a popular news presenter for his controversial statements in the nation and also introduced a weekly syndicated newspaper column and a national radio show called The Radio Factor from 2002 to 2009.
Aside from this, he has written numerous best selling books such as Killing Kennedy (2012), Killing Lincoln (2011), The O’Reilly Factor (2000), Those who Trespass (1998) and many more.
In 2017, he went through career setbacks after the reports surfaced about various settlements for sexual harassment allegations. He got fired from the Fox network.
Personal Life
He got married to Maureen E. McPhilmy in 1996. Both were dating each other since 1992. They have a daughter, Madeline and a son, Spencer together. The two got separated in 2011.
