Early Life
BT Foakes was born on 15th February, 1993 in Colchester, Essex, England as Benjamin Thomas Foakes to Peter and Fi Foakes. He was raised in family with father being the English football Premier League referee and mother working at Essex County Cricket Club. His father encouraged his interest in sport but he lived short and died when he was just 13. He also has a brother named Matt Foakes. He attended the Tendring Technology College to complete his studies.

Career
He started his cricket career in 2011 with Domestic club Essex making his first class debut against Sri Lankans. This debut went successful as he took three catches from behind the stumps, taking two in the Sri Lankans first innings and next one in the second inning. Soon he appeared to sign a
professional contract until 2013. In 2014, he joined hands with Colts Cricket Club, a first class cricket team based in Colombo, Sri Lanka after he realised the longevity of James Foster, another one-time prodigy in the club and he left to seek further opportunities with Surrey.
On international side, he became the England’s leading run-scorer at the 2012 U-19 World Cup making a score of 93. He was later got picked up by the England Lions to tour in Australia in the start of 2013 season. In 2017 he managed to get his place fixed in the England’s test squad playing against Sri Lanka but made his test debut in November 2018 by scoring 107 in his first inning heading towards a record of being the second wicket keeper to hit a century after Matt Prior. He is also considered to be the 20th batsman on England’s list to score a century on debut in tests. He recently got added up in England’s ODI and Twenty20 squad to play against Ireland and Pakistan in April 2019.
