About A Nortje
A Nortje or Anrich Nortje is 25 years old South Africa’s right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast bowler. He plays domestic cricket with Cape Town Blitz and has made his international debut against Sri Lanka in ODI match held on 3rd March 2019. He is well known for bowling Yorkers that makes him quintessential cricketer for the white-ball formats.
Early life
A Nortje was born on 16th November 1993 in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, South Africa as Anrich Nortje. His mother name is Amanda Nortje and he also has a brother named Anton Nortje and a sister named Lizel Bouwer.
He completed his early studies attending Handhaaf Primary School, Daniel Pienaar Technical High School, and Hoerskool Brandwag. Later he went for Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa earning his Bachelor of Commerce and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning. Among his other interests, he loves traveling and listening to music.
Talking about his early days while being in 11th standard, he suffered from a collarbone injury while playing
rugby and later decided to focus on cricket career playing for Madibaz Cricket Club.
Career
He started his cricket career playing for Eastern Province and making his first-class debut in 2013 against Namibia at Windhoek, Namibia. He was also part of the squad for 2016 Africa T20 Cup. His innings proved him for further selection in the squad of Cape Town Blitz playing Mzansi Super League T20 cricket tournament in October 2018.
He made his first-class debut five years ago but it was after a 2017-18 season that his stock rose rapidly. In November 2018, he went for MSL T20 but left out the game in midway due to his ankle injury. He was also included in South Africa A team to pay a visit for the game in India where he got just one out of four games to play.
He soon grabbed an opportunity in 2018 to go for 2019 Indian Premier League but unfortunately ruled out with a shoulder injury. On the international side, he played well with his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in March 2019 and also got selected for T20I squad which was ruled out again due to injury. The same case happened with him in 2019 Cricket World Cup where he got replaced with Chris Morris as he got a hand injury.
Achievements
He has received the Warriors Cricket Award for Most Promising Player of the Year in 2018.
Personal Life
He is engaged to Micaela Klee, who is a teacher by profession.
