Trivago Overview
Planning out vacations and searching for best deals in hotels then pay a visit to Trivago, the first search engine of hotel in Germany since 2005. It is publicly owned business with majority of stocks under American travel company Expedia Group. It has put forth the business in travel, hotel, information technology and marketing making out the total revenue of €1.035 billion in year 2017.
In simple language we can say it is an online hotel search platform that compares prices from various hotels on booking sites worldwide.
Its origin
13 years ago in January 2005, the foundation of the company was laid down in Dusseldorf, Germany by its founders; Rolf Schromgens, Malte Siewert and Peter Vinnemeier. They observed the opportunity in this business and planned to spread it worldwide as a result now they are serving 55 countries of the world.
Why to go for it?
They focus on making the way easier for travellers to search for and compare hotels with the main motive and mission to “be the traveller’s first and independent source of information for finding the ideal hotel at the lowest rate”. Since 2005, they are among the fastest growing internet companies in travel technology sector having around 120 million travellers using the site to find their ideal hotel for stay by comparing prices from more than a million hotels.
They are best in providing the relevant details and information while searching for hotels online. Even they have put forth the efforts to build up a dedicated Hotel Relations team which provides access to hoteliers to retain control over their hotel’s profile on the site and also paying attention for serving quality customer service.
How they make that done?
The company adds up the hotel by registering free to Trivago with Hotel Manager tool and upgrading to PRO solution. Hoteliers have full choice to update hotel’s profile with metasearch as they have the tool to efficiently manage all that. They are using Zendesk support for this and are working on model that compares each country on different platform with multi-branding functionality.
Trivago thus makes money out of these advertising partners primarily using a cost-per-click.
