Sky tower Auckland Overview

About its origin
The construction of the tower was started in 1994 by Fletcher Construction whereas the structural, design, coordination, geotechnical, mechanical, civil, plumbing, electrical, lighting and fire engineering services were offered by Beca Group.
The main architect of the tower was Gordon Moller from Craig Craig Moller architects and Les Dykstra. The work was well completed within two years and nine months thus finally getting opened in August 1997.
What’s its design convey?
Talking about its strength then this huge tall tower is placed on high performance reinforced concrete consisting of 12-meter diameter shaft which is supported by eight legs based on 16 foundation piles drilled over 12 m deep into the local sandstone.
The upper structure is further supported by the structural steel whereas the upper portion is built from composite material, precast concrete, and reinforced concrete. Somewhere they have also used aluminum with blue/green reflective glass finally weighing in total over 12 million kilograms.
From the safety side, the tower has been constructed looking upon to withstand the speed of wind which is many times more than 200 km/hr and also to withstand an earthquake of 8.0 magnitudes. Aside from these fireproof rooms are provided in the tower looking upon the emergency needs.
Why is it so popular?
We can say it is an exciting place or hub of adrenaline activities, superb dining, and breathtaking views. The base has the Auckland entertainment complex which is home of two world-class hotels, 20 bars and restaurants, a 700 seat theatre and a world-class casino.
The popularity is also raised from the fact that the tower can show panoramic 360-degree views up to 80 kilometers in every direction spotting key landmarks, volcanoes and other historical locations within the greater Auckland area.
