It is a privately-owned e-commerce business in the United Kingdom since 2006 that offers products like online secondary ticketing and online ticket marketplace.
The brand is working under the parent organization Ticketmaster but is on the way to get close down by October 2018 as announced by the parent organization and is planning to move on secondary ticketing services so as to combat exploitation of service by ticket touts.
How it got started?
Joe Cohen was the one to start with such an idea in May 2006. The site ran online in February 2007.
It gradually earned the part of success in business by announcing that it has raised $17 million in the fourth round of funding.
In 2011, they have launched iOS SDK on their site and the further year went through recovery after a miserable few years for the group, as the economic downturn hit live music and events in the UK. At the same time, Joe stepped down as chief executive with the company set to break.
It is now working under the parent organization Ticketmaster, which is a proud division of Live Nation Entertainment certified as a Great Place to Work plus is included as the leading live event ticketing company in the world with selling over 465 million tickets each year in over 30 countries worldwide. As per announced the parent company is closing down resale sites Seatwave and Get Me In in 2018.
How they make income?
The company receives a small portion of the sale price when the ticket is sold.
They offer sellers to list the tickets for free whereas buyers pay for tickets through the Seatwave site, guaranteeing secure payment and the timely arrival of tickets before concert/event.
Achievement
The company made its name by capturing the title of the “Fastest Growing Company Award & Best Management” Award in 2009 and also got featured on the “Ones to Watch” list of Media Momentum's in 2008.
The success of the brand didn’t turn towards the end after that as they also received the award for being the Online Business of the Year in 2009 plus got positioned first in the inaugural Tech Media Invest 100 list in 2009.
