RBL bank or Ratnakar Bank Limited is an Indian scheduled commercial bank known for its banking financial services since 1943. The bank is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India and have in total 4,902 employees. At present the bank is active in six business sectors; retail banking, corporate and institutional banking, commercial banking, agricultural and development banking and financial markets and branch and business banking with a gross business size of around Rs. 0.64 Million Cr.
According to financial data of year 2017, the bank has earned revenue of total US$620 million from its US$6.8 billion of total assets and capital ratio 13.72%.
When it got started?
The bank came into existence dates back to the pre-independence times in August 1943 as Ratnakar Bank with its two main branches in Kohlapur and Sangli. The main idea behind starting such a project was of Mr. Babogonda Bhujgondo Patil who was an eminent advocate during that time along with Mr. Gangaram Siddhappa Chougule, a famous merchant in Kohlapur. The bank was specially established
to serve Kohlapur-Sangli belt region’s business merchants. Later looking upon its progress, it came under Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 and became a scheduled commercial bank in 1959.
RBL is also listed on both NSE and BSE and is currently having services to over 5.83 million customers through a network of 288 branches, 221 banking outlets and 390 ATMs spread across 21 Indian states and Union Territories.
