Museo Cappella Sansevero Overview
Cappella Sansevero is an Italian church located in Naples, Italy and established in 1590 by John Francesco di Sangro. Many famous artists of 18th century designed the church. Chapel inspired by Raimondo de Sangro VII. Raimundo was a great scientist. The chapel is small, but it will amaze the visitors. There is a statue of Veiled Christ situated in the middle of Christ. The statue made from the only one-sone piece. The treasure is the personal collection of the Napoli’s history. The statue shaped with special paints and special ways. In 1590, John Francesco di Sangro recovered from illness. He also built a private chapel in his residence. In 1613, the church was converted to family burial chapel by Raimondo di Sangro. The chapel is also known as Pietatella because of the painting of the Virgin Mary. The chapel originally dedicated to Santa Maria Della Pieta.
The visitors can book their ticket online and have to pay a booking fee. They can book tickets three months in advance. The ticket is used on booking date only because it cannot be used on any other date. The payment of the ticket can be done through Visa or MasterCard. The entry of teacher with ten students is free in the museum.
Museo Cappella Sansevero Collection
The Cappella has a collection of thirty artworks. Raimondo designed the statue of the chapel. In 1750, the Antonio Corradini completed the Veiled Truth. The Glory of Paradise painting of chapel added in 1749. The Madonna con Bambino is a painting of roman artist Giuseppe Pesce. The painting made from wax-based paints of Raimondo di Sangro’s invention. There are several other collections of chapel named as Monument to Cecco de Sangro, Monument to Giovan Francesco Paolo de Sangro, II Decoro Antonio, La Liberal, Altar to St. Raimondo de, Angel and many more.
