Kenko Tokina Overview
We are here talking about the manufacturing and trading company of Japan that is well known for teleconverters and filters which are the photographic accessories. The company is headquartered in Tokyo and are working under the brand name of Kenko Tokina.
When it got started?
The company is in market since 1957 and are constantly working on the production of conversion lenses which are used by Nikon cameras with compatible lenses having integrated autofocus-motor. They are the Japan’s largest manufacturer/seller of lens filters grabbing the hold on shares of Japan and many countries throughout the world.
Initially, Kenko and Tokina were two different manufacturers who recently came together merging both Tokina Co., Ltd with Kenko Co., Ltd under the name KenkoTokina Co., Ltd in 2011. They are now the importer and distributor of Tokina, Hoya optical filters, Slik tripods, Kenko photo accessories and Daiwa broadcast camera supports. From above Slik is part of Kenko Tokina Co Ltd. which hold the legacy brand of quality camera support systems
which got started in garage after World War II and made its name in tripods and other camera supports whereas from above Hoya is the largest optical glass manufacturer and Kenko Tokina is its world-wide export agent. They also have subsidiary companies in China, Thailand and Philippines plus hold the sales offices in the US, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, India, France and Russia.
What makes them so special and what they provide?
The company Kenko used to manufacturer everything from binoculars and microscopes to filters plus includes the full range of photographic and optical accessories whereas Tokina was known for manufacturing of lenses for digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras since past 60 years with speciality in fast glass like ATX-116 PRO DX, a top rated 11-16mm f/2.8 lens. Now they are together under the brand name Kenko Tokina.
They offer interchangeable lenses for SLR cameras, CCTV and industrial lenses, conversion lenses for video and digital cameras, surveillance camera accessories, and optical filters plus also have the fiber optic illuminator systems and machine vision lenses for industrial applications.
Recently, they celebrated their 60th anniversary in September, 2017 and are looking forward with a vision to create an innovative technology playing their best role as a general imaging and outdoor optics company.
