The story behind its start
In 1962, the first store of such type was opened up by Joseph Fallas in a single downtown Los Angeles as Fallas Paredes.
Joseph planned to expand his business and went for acquiring the stores at the urge of liquidation such as Weiner’s store in 2001, Factory 2-U Stores, Inc, in 2004 and Conway Stores chain in 2014.
But at present, National Stores, the parent company of Discount-store chains Fallas, Conway’s and Factory 2-U, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is planning to close 74 of its 344 stores.
This all happened so because consumers shop online. According to the recent report, the company said it lined up $108 million of financing to keep operating while in bankruptcy.
What makes them popular?
The company is active as a store to offer big selections of quality brand and brand names in clothing for men, ladies, boys, girls, juniors, infants and toddlers along with the collection of branded lingerie, shoes, and home decor.
They are the first choice of consumers as their philosophy describes them in quotes mentioned “First place to shop! The first place to save!”
Not only this, they provide quality merchandise keeping their prices to the lowest than the locals.
People can often found them in the same neighborhood downtown areas, power strips, specialty centers and in smaller communities.
Other names through which they do business are Fallas Paredes, Fallas Discount stores, Fanas and Anna’s Linen’s by Fallas.
However, the store is mostly visited by the consumers to shop for school uniforms as one can easily find polos, shorts, pants, skirts, shoes, backpacks, school supplies, and lunch boxes, etc.
