The company started as Queens Food Dealers at the time of foundation. Mr. Chalek acquired the grocery store with almost no experience. He founded a buyers group so that they can buy products at a lower price from the manufacturer. Associated Food Store is a corporation which is formed by Mr. Chalek and many members. After the corporation, the company began to a large number of grocery products. In 2014, the company added several banners named as Met Food, Met Fresh, Metropolitan City Market and Pioneer.
