1. The grand commissioning of the Arena.
The ground was broken for the arena on 24th June 2005 and construction completed on 11th October 2007. Sprint Center was opened on 10th October 2007 with a 3 days concert by Elton John, this being the arena's first event.

2. Construction
Construction of the Sprint Center arena cost $276 million that is equal to 333 million dollars in 2018. The world's richest man can build more than 10 such arenas. Not that expensive!
The architecture of the wonderful arena was made by Downtown Arena Design Team, HOK Sport, 360 Architecture and Raphael Architecture. The exterior of the arena is made of glass, and the interior is equipped with a 360-degree LED video screen that gives everyone in the arena a perfect view of what is displayed on the screens.
The arena is approximately 13,000 m2 made of double insulated glass and 5,000 m2 painted aluminum curtain wall sheets. The entire project was led by M. A. Mortenson Company, based in Minnesota.
3. Tenants
Sprint Center arena is home to Kansas City Command of the Arena Football League (AFL) from 2008 to 2012. It also hosted the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament in 2008 and has since done so every year since 2010.
It also hosted the first and second rounds of the 2009 and 2013 NCAA Men's Tournaments as well as the regional rounds of the NCAA Men's Tournament and the 2010 NCAA Women's Tournament. It is also intended to host the 2019 NCAA Men's Division I regional.
4. Ownership of the Arena
The Sprint Center arena is proudly owned by the city government of Kansas City. Though it is owned by the city government, it is operated by the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG).
5. The capacity of the Arena
Sprint Center is capable of holding up to a population of 17,297 in the football arena, 18,972 in the Basketball arena and 17,544 in the Ice hockey arena.
Besides, the concert arena can be able to accommodate 19,252 people, making Sprint Center one of the best places to host events. This is evident as great artists like Ed-Sheeran, Chris Brown and many more artists.
