Southwestern Bell is 136 years old national telecommunication subsidiary of AT&T.
It was formerly known by the name, The Missouri and Kansas Telephone Company from 1882 to 1920. The company started its work in 1882 under a parent company, American Bell, till 1899 and later became a wholly-owned subsidiary of AT&T.
The company covers up the operational regions like Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and regions of Illinois with its headquarter in Dallas, Texas, United States.
It works on a diversified telecommunication system and offers the best services including wireless telecommunication and equipment; calling cards; web solutions; dial-up internet access; messaging; shared web hosting; directory advertising; cable television and publishing.
What brings it to the top?
The company is being operated under the guidance of CEO Mark Keiffer since 2007 but the real work to bring up the company was done by Robert G. Pope in 1984 when it was just a small corporation among the other six “Baby Bells”.
Later the company underwent branding and adopted the slogan to give it an image of a national company. In present it is mostly affected by five main factors; globalization, technology, innovation, diversity and ethics as they are among the largest global supplier of telephone, wireless and internet services.
They have quickly adapted to the changes in technology and have lived up to the demand of consumers and changes in competition finally placing them to the top position.
The company brought together its business with the purchase of AT&T for $16 billion and later joined hands with Cingular Wireless and Yellowpages.com.
Now they have merged with around 11 and are further planning to globalize and spread out business in Latin America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
What is available in plans?
The company is providing internationally enabled phones on six continents and 195 countries with some interesting features that include wireless data-roaming in more than 140 countries at laptops, hand-held devices and other ways of data services.
They are also not far behind in the management of services with almost 1,000 world’s top scientists and engineers ready as a team to evaluate products available in the market and to further enhance their services as per innovation in technology.
The company encourages various workshops and educational programs to guide employees for work finally leading to growth.
They have further focused on providing the most reliable network to the public with customer satisfaction, an increase in revenue and reducing the cost.
Now they are planning to introduce a package with “quadruple play” having all the necessary services like telephone, TV, cell phone and internet in one such pack.
Thus, we are now seeing the company with a monopoly over telecommunication, internet services and business having a reliable server in the future.
They also look up to the threats of losing out their position in the market and are hence putting forth their best for customer satisfaction.
