Sony History
The company was established by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita as Tokyo Telecommunication Engineering Corporation in 1946 with a small shop. They built first tape recorder of Japan and renamed themselves to Sony in 1958. By late 1950s, the company started to expand outside Japan when they started selling their radios in US market. In 1960, the American division of the company Sony Corporation of America was founded by the Akio Morito.
