We are talking about the Sri Lanka based telecom company that is known for providing high-speed uninterrupted internet at an affordable price through ADSL which is a broadband connection technology that utilizes existing copper wired telephone networks to offer a wide range of frequencies in delivering high-speed internet.
The company has also received the AAA and B+ rating on Long Term Corporate Credit rating by Standard & Poors. Its generated revenue counts to LKR 68.022 billion as per the financial year report of 2015.
When it got started?
It got started in 1991 but has a history of the past 150 years with its operations got started in 1858 with the establishment of the first telegraphic circuit between Galle and Colombo.
Now the company is recognized as the leading digital service provider in the country with two main shareholders the Government of Sri Lanka holding 49.5% stake in SLT through the Secretary to the Treasury and Global Telecommunication Holdings (GTH) which owns the stake of 44.98%.
The balance shares are publicly
traded on the CSE. It has over 8 million customers base which takes in all the large and small corporate, multinational corporations, public sector, retail and domestic customers.
What they have to offer in the market?
The company is well known for offering an entire gamut of ICT solutions in the areas of mobile and fixed telephony, broadband, data, cloud computing, hosted services, IPTV and networking solutions.
They have provided ADSL 2+ which offers speeds up to 16 Mbit/s under 6 packages that include business, light user, family, SME Business, State sector, and higher education.
Recently in 2017, they worked on FTTH service providing the ultra-fast fixed broadband in dense urban and urban areas thus becoming the first telecom to successfully field test Pre-5G LTE Advanced Pro Technology in South Asia achieving 855.9 Mbps user throughput using Advanced Carrier Aggregation in TD-LTE 2500 MHz band.
They are also working on an international platform with an investment in submarine cable systems, Dhiraagu-SLT Submarine cable system, Bharat-Lanka Submarine cable system and multiple interconnected data centers. It also includes subsidiaries working in the business such as Mobitel Limited, SLT VisionCom, SLT Publication Limited, SKY Network Limited, SLT Human Capital Solutions, SLT Property Management Limited and many more.
