The Company focuses on trending new designs and sells everything from apparels to footwear, makeup to accessories and wide variety grooming products. The name “ASOS” is an abbreviation for “AS SEEN ON SCREEN” is written “asos” in lowercase. The company headquarters are in London, England, United Kingdom.
Foundation, Development & Expansion
ASOS was established and set up by two British men Nick Robertson & Quentin Griffiths on June 3rd, 2000 not with an idea of such a huge fashion business. But later it was listed onto London stock exchange and Company earned huge profits by floating its shares in market and earning it huge investors and shareholders.
By 2004, company grew a lot in United Kingdom and got very much famous for its products. The various departments that ASOS focussed on and offered to its customers were: Women’s wear, Men’s wear, fashion accessories, beauty products etc. The company stopped producing its Kid’s wear line as due to curbing huge amount of losses on it.
IN 2010, ASOS went international; it opened for USA, France & Germany.
The natives of these countries were now able to make orders for the lucrative products as shown on website of ASOS. In 2011 &2012, Company also launched websites in Australia, Italy & Spain but also opened an International office in Sydney, Australia and then in New York, USA.
ASOS Russia & ASOS China was launched in 2013. ASOS has more than 4000 employees working it’s under.
ASOS also did many campaigns, collaborations and associations. ASOS also sponsored for MCLaren Formula one team. It also campaigned for UK’s breast cancer awareness charities and sold BRA’s. It also got associated/ partnered with British Paralympic Association to promote athletes looking their best in RIO 2016 Olympic Games. ASOS also designed and labelled formal attire/apparel for athletes in various events & ceremonial functions.
During late 2016’s many news came out complaining poor working conditions in ASOS warehouses, which the spokesperson of ASOS denied, apart from poor working conditions, various articles were published about low wages of workers and their continuous exploitation for regular break less work.
Marketing
ASOS is marketed very well, it has quite amount of followers on Twitter and Facebook. Its official mobile app has been downloaded 10 million times.
Its hashtag #AsSeenOnMe adds the pictures on ASOS database. New ways of online & mobile purchases has reportedly attributed quite well to stock purchases of ASOS.
